SHOP DUQUESNE INITIATIVE

The City of Duquesne and our development partners, the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Duquesne (RACD) and the Duquesne Business Advisory Corporation (DBAC), have been active in revitalizing the business sector.  We’ve been undertaking infrastructure improvements to Grant Avenue at State Route 837/Duquesne Boulevard along with developing a new light industrial park in conjunction with Allegheny County along Route 837.  With our economic development funds we’ve assisted the owner of the Duquesne Plaza in undertaking substantial improvements to that property.

Last year the Great Allegheny Passage was completed between Pittsburgh and Washington, D.C.  The trail comes through Duquesne and we have plans to capitalize on new visitors coming through our town.

The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Duquesne has engaged a real estate professional to market vacant and underutilized properties and we continue to be engaged in helping existing businesses expand and attracting new businesses.  As an Enterprise Zone area we have attractive incentives to assist in business development.

The Shop Duquesne Initiative is proposed by the City, RACD and DBAC.  This is a coordinated approach among the local public bodies and retail stores to encourage shopping in Duquesne.  The Duquesne Plaza and its stores are aggressively advertising via print and radio.  Our public role is to work with our private sector partners in “getting the word out” and to support our retail stores.
